Actress Tamzin Outhwaite says she has fellow actor James McEvoy to thank for meeting her husband Tom Ellis.
"Tom and I have so much to be grateful to James for. He is a good friend of both of us now, and, of course, he made the introduction which changed our lives.
"I'm not sure it was love at first sight - I'm not sure that exists - but the attraction was pretty instant, and mutual. Apparently, Tom had had a crush on me for ages.
"We certainly knew within a few weeks that the stakes were high and that we didn't want to lose each other.
"I was 34 when Tom and I met, and I'd resigned myself to the fact that I might have to settle for somebody who wasn't perfect.
"It took a lot longer to find my ideal man than I thought it was going to. I've wanted a child for a long time.
"I wouldn't say my body clock was ticking that loudly but I've spent my life mothering my brothers, Jake and Kes, my cousins, even my friends, and there was a part of me that wanted to and really needed to be a mother."
Now Tamzin will have the chance to put that mothering instinct of hers towards her own child. She and Tom are expecting their first child together in June.
"I'm glad I've waited until now. My mum had me when she was only 19 years old - I was the first of her three - and the idea of me having kids when I was so young would have been ludicrous. The knowledge I would have had to pass on to my children would have been pretty much non-existent.
"Now, I've achieved at least part of what I want to achieve with my career and have no qualms about taking time out to have a baby. I feel it's the right time."
"I'm over the moon at the thought of being a mum but taking absolutely nothing for granted. I'd feel uncomfortable doing so."
Tom already has daughter, Nora, 2, from a previous relationship
